3 presentations (a writing workshop can be substituted for one presentation)
Grades K-2: Read aloud from my books and Q&A. Can include White House pet puppet and/or LEGO™ Ferris Wheel. 30 minutes.
Grades 3-5: In a lively PowerPoint presentation I explain how I got ideas for individual titles and series, the power of research in opening doors, and the importance of rewriting. 45 to 60 minutes.
Grades 6 and above: Aspects of screenplay writing, Q&A.
Writing Workshop: Students work with me to develop a writing topic and the primary aspects for their own story whether fiction or nonfiction. Teacher’s guide for White House Pets available online.
I work with teachers and their curriculum to stress STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) in my presentations. In fact, I bring a revolving, lighted Ferris Wheel, built from LEGO™, to all of my presentations!
Book signing session included. Also, lunch with teachers or select group of students, if desired. I adapt my program to work with your curriculum.
